Asking for wisdom

Reflecting on my post from last week about our struggle to cultivate a balanced life, I have asked myself

  • What is the root reason I pray for balance?
  • What is it that I am asking God for?

What I found is that truthfully I desire wisdom – His wisdom – for how to handle the tasks of life.

It is as if I want God to give a perfect formula of how much time I should spend on each task every day so as to gain balance by prioritizing but His ways are not my ways. When I ask for wisdom it doesn’t come in a formula but rather comes through ears and eyes attentive to the Holy Spirit.
