Welcome to the part-time United States of ObamaCare
On January 1, a component of Obamacare that was delayed for a year went into effect. This provision forces companies to provide health benefits to at least 70 percent of workers who do 30 hours a week or more. Next year, the provision expands to 95 percent of workers and also applies to companies with 50-99 employees. Because of this, more and more companies are shifting their workers to part-time status to side-step the law. At the same time, 19 states have raised their minimum wage with 3 states set to follow later this year.
The propaganda espoused goal of all of these changes has been to improve the lives of American workers. However, this is the reality:
