Hoping for the Return of a Prodigal

How many of us have members of our family who have walked away? Cut off contact? Made it clear they want nothing to do with us? More and more frequently I have heard people divulge their story, perhaps because it has happened to me and now we have a mutual pain that brings us together. For some it may have been decades, for others maybe only years.

Recently as I was reminded again of this individual I was stung with fresh heartbreak. Especially around the holiday season we are reminded of those who used to be part of our family celebrations and our hearts feel the emptiness.
